How did the players fare in Middlesbrough’s 3-2 win at Exeter?
EXETER (3-5-2):
Sinisalo 6; Aimson 5, Fitzwater 5 (Diabate 60, 4), Hartridge 5; Mitchell 6 (Harper 34, 6), Kite 6, TREVITT 8, Taylor 7 (Richards 80), Jules 6; Scott 6, Muskwe 4 (Wildschut 60, 5).
Subs (not used): MacDonald (gk), Dean, Cunningham.
MIDDLESBROUGH (4-2-3-1):
6 Glover: Barely had a save to make, but still found himself picking the ball out of the net twice as Trevitt let fly from distance
7 Dijksteel: Looked good as he returned from a long-term injury to make his first start of the season
7 Fry: Prevented Exeter’s forwards from getting into Boro’s 18-yard box and was generally in the right place to stop attacks
6 McNair: Wasn’t stretched too much, but was perhaps slow to close the opposition down on occasion
7 Bangura: Made some important breaks down the left and won the tackle that led to Rogers’ goal at the start of the second half
6 Barlaser: Kept the ball moving in midfield, but wasn’t really a factor in the final third for much of the night
7 Hackney: Started slowly, but became more and more influential as the evening wore on with his passing and movement
6 I Jones: Picked the wrong pass on a number of occasions in the first half, but improved after the interval
8 ROGERS: Was a massive factor in the second half, scoring Boro’s first goal and winning the decisive penalty
8 Silvera: Took the game to Exeter in the second period and scored with a brilliant curled finish into the corner
7 Latte Lath: Had a busy evening, especially after the break, and held his nerve to score the winner from the spot
Subs:
Engel (for Bangura, 83)
Crooks (for Silvera, 87)
Van den Berg (for Dijksteel, 87)
Coburn (for Latte Lath, 90)
(not used): J Jones (gk), Clarke, Coulson, Howson, Gilbert.
Man Of The Match: MORGAN ROGERS – The forward was a key factor in sparking Middlesbrough’s second-half revival.
