7 Glover: Made a couple of decent first half stops. Clearly trying to quickly adjust to Carrick’s style.

7 McNair: Solid enough defensively and tried to join the attack as much as possible.

7 Lenihan: Helped to ensure Boro didn’t panic after nightmare start. Talked van den Berg and Coulson through the game.

6 Van den Berg: Nightmare start when he gifted Huddersfield the early opener. Couple of shaky moments soon after but the teenager showed character to recover well.

6 Coulson: Really difficult first half against the tricky Diarra. Lucky not to be booked. Improved after the break.

7 Hackney: Turned the game on its head with a brilliant pass that set Jones away and led to the sending off.

8 Barlaser: Sloppy in the very early stages but helped Boro take control after the red card and set up the first two goals.

7 Jones: Encouraging showing. Involved in game-changing moment after being fouled by Headley and scored the crucial second goal.

6 Payero: Put a shift in and showed flashes of quality. Got better as the game went on.

8 Silvera: Another impressive showing from the winger, who staked his claim for a start at Coventry. Took his goal well. A threat throughout.

7 Rogers: Caused the home side problems and was unlucky not to score. Went close on a few occasions.
