FORMER Sunderland boss Jack Ross has confirmed he is staying at Newcastle United after initially joining the club on an interim basis earlier year.
Ross joined the Magpies as Head of Coach Development in March in what was initially a short-term deal. But the role has now been made permanent, as confirmed by Ross on his LinkedIn page.
The ex-Sunderland manager has overall responsibility for the management and organisation of Newcastle coach development across all academy age groups – up to and including the Under-21 squad.
When Ross initially joined earlier this year, Steve Harper, Newcastle's academy director, said: "Jack is a very experienced manager, coach and coach educator. His knowledge and experience will be of huge benefit to us during his time here."
Ross took charge of Sunderland in 2018 after the Black Cats' relegation to League One and almost led them straight back to the Championship at the first time of asking, losing to Charlton in the play-off final.
He had 17 months in charge before he was sacked and went on to have stints in charge of Hibs and Dundee United.
