SANDRO TONALI will make his first appearance in a Newcastle United shirt when they take on Rangers in a pre-season friendly at Ibrox.

The Italian, who was a €70m signing from AC Milan, make his first Magpies start in a testimonial game for former Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor.

Kieran Trippier returns to defence for this evening's game, having started Saturday's win over Gateshead in midfield, with Fabian Schar and Sven Botman resuming the centre-half pairing that fared so well last term.

Sean Longstaff and Elliot Anderson will play alongside Tonali in midfield, with Miguel Almiron and Jamal Lewis filling the wide attacking positions.

Callum Wilson makes his first pre-season appearance as he leads the Newcastle attack.

Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak are on the bench, so could feature at some stage, but as expected, Allan Saint-Maximin does not feature in the squad.

The French winger is being heavily linked with a potential move to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Ahli.
