JOSH COBURN has signed a new four-year contract with Middlesbrough, committing him to the club to the end of the 2026-27 season.

On the same day that Dael Fry put pen to paper on a new long-term deal, Coburn penned a contract that rewards him for his continued development after spending last season on loan at Bristol Rovers.

The Bedale-born 20-year-old burst onto the scene at the end of the 2020-21 season, scoring his first senior goal on his home debut against Sheffield Wednesday.

He followed that by scoring five goals in 22 appearances the following season, including the winning goal against Tottenham in an FA Cup tie at the Riverside.

Last season, Coburn scored ten goals in 27 league starts for League One side Bristol Rovers, where he spent the full campaign on loan. He was named the club's Young Player of the Year.

Coburn was part of Michael Carrick’s squad for Boro's pre-season camp in Portugal, but left early after picking up a slight injury and was therefore not involved in either of last weekend's friendlies against Hartlepool United and York City.
