NEWCASTLE United will host a four-team pre-season tournament at St James' Park the weekend before the start of the Premier League campaign.

Fiorentina, Nice and Villarreal will also be involved in the inaugural Sela Cup, presented by VisitMalta, with Eddie Howe's Magpies in action on Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6.

Newcastle will face Fiorentina on the Saturday at 3.30pm, with Nice playing Villarreal at 12.30pm.

The Magpies will then take on Villarreal at 4pm on the Sunday, after Fiorentina take on Nice at 1pm.

Newcastle United Women are also in action, taking on West Brom on the Saturday at 6pm, in what is their first outing at St James' Park since lifting the FA Women's National League Division One North title in May and turning professional.

Tickets, which will grant entry for all games taking place on the day, are priced at £30 for adults and £15 for concessions. Weekend package tickets are available until the end of this month, priced at £55 for adults and £25 for concessions.

The tournament format will see teams awarded three points for a win, one point for a draw and an additional point per goal scored, with the overall winners presented with the trophy after the final game on the Sunday.

Newcastle United CEO Darren Eales said: "There is huge excitement going into the 2023/24 season, so to be able to give our supporters two days of football involving both our men's and women's teams is something that everybody is looking forward to.

"To be able to attract elite clubs from three of Europe's top leagues shows our ambition to grow as a club and the growing attraction of Newcastle United.

"I would like to sincerely thank our partners, Sela and VisitMalta, for making this possible. Having them on board to offer their expertise in delivering top class events and activations will ensure the tournament is a great weekend for everyone coming to St. James' Park."

Tickets are now on general sale online, with in-person sales available from the Box Office.

Newcastle kick off their pre-season with a trip to Gateshead next Saturday, before travelling to Glasgow to face Rangers. They'll then take on Aston Villa, Chelsea and Brighton in the United States before returning home for the mini-tournament at St James'.
