HULL City will look to make Karl Darlow's loan from Newcastle United permanent, with Eddie Howe facing decisions on the future of several goalkeepers this summer.

Darlow has impressed at the MKM Stadium since joining the Tigers in January and as boss Liam Rosenior plans for a Championship promotion push next season, he's identified the permanent signing of the 32-year-old as a priority.

Darlow still has two years left on his contract with the Magpies, but has relished the opportunity of regular first team football on Humberside and has quickly established himself as a favourite at City.

“He’s been magnificent since he’s come in," said Rosenior recently.

“I think he’s massively enjoying working here, I think he’s enjoying the club, he’s settled in with the players really really well.

“What I really like about Karl was as soon as he signed he had his young family come and join him and settle down in the area, and I think that’s helped him. Hopefully we’ll have discussions in the summer about his long-term future.”

Darlow joined Hull on deadline day and initially had to be patient. He was a substitute for the first four games but was handed the gloves at the end of February and hasn't looked back, playing his part as the Tigers have finished the season strongly. Rosenior is expected to be backed this summer, with promotion to the Premier League next season's aim under ambitious owner Acun Ilicali.

Had he stayed at Newcastle, Darlow would have played in the Carabao Cup final due to Nick Pope and Martin Dúbravka's suspension's, but the keeper, who was in the stands at Wembley, insisted at the time he had no regrets about the move.

Howe is likely to be in the market for at least one deputy goalkeeper this summer. As well as Hull pushing to make the Darlow move permanent, both Mark Gillespie and Loris Karius are out of contract. Karius' only appearance for the club so far came at Wembley against Manchester United.

There's also likely to be interest in Martin Dúbravka, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Manchester United. There's little chance of Dúbravka winning back the gloves at St James' Park, with Nick Pope having enjoyed a hugely impressive first season on Tyneside.
