6 Patterson – Made a brilliant save to deny Slater at 1-0, which allowed Sunderland to counter and equalise. Was unlucky for Hull’s second when he initially saved well from Pelkas. Helpless for goals.
5 Hume – Bad mistake for Hull’s third goal.
5 O’Nien – Never settled and looked edgy throughout.
5 Batth – Wasn’t helped by poor defensive performances around him but Sunderland needed him to try and settle backline down.
5 Gooch – Went close to a goal early on when he hit the post. Uncomfortable defensively.
6 Neil – Combative but needed some steel around him at times.
5 Michut – Struggled to get a grip in the first half. Improved in the second before being replaced.
7 Roberts - Not at his influential best but tricky and had his moments.
8 Amad - Back in the team and back to something like his best. Caused no end of problems and scored two goals.
8 Clarke - Set-up first goal, won the penalty and scored the fourth. Had a glorious chance to seal it with a fifth at 4-3.
7 Gelhardt - Put in a really good shift. Got a goal and troubled Hull with his movement.
