NEWCASTLE UNITED have appointed former Sunderland boss Jack Ross to their coaching staff.
Ross has joined the Magpies' academy as interim head of coach development on a short-term basis.
The Scotsman will work closely with the club's academy director, Steve Harper, and management team to provide support to the academy's coaching structure and players in the Under-9 to Under-16 age groups.
Harper said: "Jack is a very experienced manager, coach and coach educator. His knowledge and experience will be of huge benefit to us during his time here."
Ross, who had a spell with Hartlepool United during his playing days, spent a year-and-a-half as Sunderland manager following the club's relegation to League One in 2018.
He led the Black Cats to the play-off final at Wembley in his only full season in charge, but oversaw a defeat to Charlton Athletic.

Since leaving Sunderland, he has had two managerial spells back in his native Scotland with Hibernian and Dundee United.
Ross' appointment on Tyneside follows Neil Winskill's deployment to a coaching role with the Magpies' Under-21 side.
