MIDDLESBROUGH fans are urged to support two collections taking place at the Riverside Stadium ahead of the Blackpool game.

Middlesbrough Supporters Forum are holding a collection for Middlesbrough foodbank between noon and the 3pm kick-off.

The donation point for non-perishable foods will be outside the North Stand ticket office. Cash donations will also be gratefully accepted.

Alongside the foodbank collection, fans can donate football boots and clothes, as part of the Teesside 'Boot Room' project.

The MFC Foundation and the Michael Carrick Foundation have teamed up for the initiative, which is aimed at making a pair of football boots accessible to all.

The donated boots and clothes will be redistributed to deserving causes in the area.

As part of the foodbank collection, a card reader machine will be on hand and accepts debit or credit card donations which go directly to the foodbank.

There's also the option of texting a donation.  Fans can text MSF to 70560 to donate £5. Texts will cost the donation amount plus one standard network message rate.

Items urgently required include long life juice, UHT milk, tinned custard and tinned fruit.
