THREE goals in the first 28 minutes helped Darlington to a comfortable FA Trophy win over Spennymoor Town at the Brewery Field.

Quakers blew Moors aside with their huge tenacity and commitment in the opening stages, and earned themselves an away tie at Southend in the last 32.

After both sides missed a half chance, Quakers took the lead on 11 minutes when Mark Beck helped the ball on through the middle for Jack Lambert to nip in behind the Spennymoor defence and lift over the advancing keeper, Gio Bellagambi for his 13th goal of the season.

Three minutes later, it was 2-0. Lambert won the ball near his own penalty area, played the ball inside for Adriano Moke, who played a one-two with Kaine Felix to give him space on the right to play the ball into the Spennymoor penalty area for Mark Beck to play back into the path of Jacob Hazel, who buried a left foot shot past the keeper.

A third goal nearly arrived on 22 minutes, when Hazel won the ball inside the Spennymoor area and played the ball to Beck, who turned his man quickly, and put a left foot shot just wide of the post.

The third goal inevitably came on 28 minutes. The Moors defence couldn’t get the ball away out of their own area, and Felix’s effort took a big deflection and dropped for Hazel, who squeezed the ball into the net from six yards at the near post despite a defender on the line.

Hazel nearly got his hat trick, when the Moors defence allowed a long clearance to bounce over them, and his lob went over Bellagambi, but a defender managed to clear the ball off the line.

Moors missed a good chance just on half time, when Taylor nodded a right wing cross down for Blackett to volley wide of the post.

Lambert nearly got his second on 49 minutes when Moke got down the right and pulled the ball back to him, but the keeper saved his shot with an outstretched foot.

Quakers eased up slightly after that, and Tommy Taylor was in the right place to save an effort by Glen Taylor, then Tom Allan missed a good chance from si yards out.

Moors pulled a goal back on 76 minutes when Corey McKeown got away on the right, and fired across Taylor into the bottom corner.

Quakers nearly made it 4-1 when sub Liddle found Lambert, who fired just wide.
