DURHAM will be at home to Nottinghamshire in next Wednesday's Friends Provident Trophy quarterfinals, while Yorkshire visit Gloucestershire, writes TIM WELLOCK.

After looking destined for an early exit when they lost three of their first four group games, Durham can now start to fancy another trip to Lord's, where they won the trophy last August.

The fates seemed to be conspiring against them as they lost the toss in the first seven of the eight group games and twice lost in lastball finishes. But in the end they finished top because they were the only team not to have a match washed out.

Nottinghamshire were top of the Midlands group until they lost the rain-affected decider against Leicestershire at Oakham School yesterday.

Durham played Notts at Riverside in the group stages last season, when they won by one wicket with an over to spare after the visitors made 238 for eight. Gareth Breese steeered Durham home with an unbeaten 68 after they had slipped to 120 for five, despite Phil Mustard hitting 71.

Notts have a strong attack, with Australian newcomer Darren Pattinson making a good start alongside Charlie Shreck, Paul Franks and Mark Ealham.

Quarter-final draw: Durham v Notts, Kent v Somerset, Gloucestershire v Yorkshire, Leicestershire v Essex.
