ALLAN St Maximin's outstanding volley earned Newcastle United a point against Wolves in an entertaining game at Molineux.

The Frenchman's goal bettered Rueben Neves 25 yard in the first half as the Magpies maintained their unbeaten start.

Digital Sports Writer Matty Jones rated the player's performance in the Midlands...

NUFC XI:

6 Pope – Made his saves when he had to and came out from his box when needed. Could do very little about Neves strike for the goal.

7 Trippier – A leading figure in the team. Was a threat going forward in the first half before sitting deeper and sensing danger.

8 Botman – Was a mountainous figure at the back winning his aerial duals while being composed under pressure.

6 Schar – A few tricky moments in defence. Got a yellow card in the second half and should of got his free-kick on target at the end.

6 Burn – Not his natural position and was much deeper than Trippier on the opposite flank. Stay strong and marshalled the left.

6 Longstaff – A very sloppy set of passes in the first half but he grew into the game and battled away in the second half.

7 Willock – Was very neat and tidy with the ball and was the more advanced of the midfield three. Perhaps should have scored early on.

8 Joelinton – Combative and strong in the midfield. His defensive work was brilliant covering in key areas and getting Newcastle up the pitch.

7 St Maximin – He was kept largely quiet throughout the game but with Wolves standing firm, he produces a moment of magic.

8 Almiron – Was full of energy and threat. Unsettled Wolves a lot with his darting runs and tried to make things happen for Newcastle.

6 Wood – A very quiet afternoon. Didn’t win many of his aerial battles. Had once chance with the first five minutes and did little else from it.

Subs:

6 Fraser 65’ – Provided plenty of threat and dinked a few dangerous cross into the box.

Targett 65’ – Was a steady head on the left and motored forward when he needed to.
