Hartlepool United will have new winger Wes McDonald available for the visit of Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday night.

McDonald completed a permanent move on Friday evening after recently leaving League One side Morecambe and is expected to be in the squad for the game at the Suit Direct Stadium.

The 25-year-old winger is experienced at League Two level having spent two years with Walsall where he scored ten goals in 81 appearances for the Saddlers.

With teenage winger Joe Grey currently on the sidelines through injury, McDonald is expected to feature for Paul Hartley's side.

Hartley described to BBC Radio Tees Sport what his new signing can offer as he said: “Pace, one vs one situations, he can go on both sides but he likes to play off the left but is happy to come inside.

“He has played a lot of games in the league, had a good spell at Walsall, been at Morecambe, Kyle (Letheren) knows him pretty well and I’ve heard good reports of him. It’s something different in that final third for us.

“He’s not played a lot so we will get him enjoying his football again in a way that we want to play.”

Forward Mikael Ndjoli is also expected to remain out of action for this evening's game as he continues to suffer with a thigh problem.

Tomorrow's visit of Tranmere Rovers is the first of back-to-back home games for Pools as they welcome Mark Hughes' Bradford City side to the Sui Direct Stadium this weekend.

Pools are yet to taste victory this season and currently sit second bottom of the League Two table after two defeats and one draw from their first three games.

Speaking after their latest loss at the hands of Northampton at the weekend, Hartley continued: "You're home form is always going to be the key. It's just about the next game, it's Tuesday so forget about next Saturday. We have got to concentrate on Tuesday's game first against a difficult Tranmere team.

"We'll regroup, get the players recovered and we will be ready to go again."
