DARLINGTON kicked off their pre-season fixture schedule with a comprehensive 5-2 win over Northern League side Newton Aycliffe with a number of debutants on show.
Striker Jacob Hazel, who signed for the club from Whitby Town earlier in the summer, grabbed his first goal for the club netting the Quakers second of the game in the first half while former Bolton Wanderers man Marcus Maddison rounded off the scoring to make it 5-2.
A brace from Junior Mondal and one from Jack Lambert completed a strong nights work for Alun Armstrong’s side.
Darlington’s next friendly is arranged for this weekend when they make the trip to fellow Northern League side Crook Town.
