NEWCASTLE UNITED will bolster their academy ranks with the addition of England youth international Jordan Hackett.
The 18-year-old left-back had a trial at Newcastle’s Little Benton training ground towards the end of last season, appearing in an Under-23s game against Rangers.
Having joined Tottenham’s youth set-up in the summer of 2020, he has been released from Spurs’ academy system after spending two years in north London.
An England Under-18 international, he has opted to move to Newcastle despite interest from a number of different clubs.
He will join the Magpies’ development set-up, and is likely to feature for the club’s Under-21 side next season as well as in the Papa John’s Trophy, where Newcastle Under-21s have been drawn in a group with Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers and Lincoln City.
