PADDY McNair has been ruled out of Middlesbrough’s Championship tie with Stoke City due to illness as Chris Wilder makes four changes to his side.

McNair drops out of the starting eleven alongside Marc Bola, Sol Bamba and Folarin Balogun who are all on the bench for today’s game.

Lee Peltier takes McNair’s place on the left side of defence. Matt Crooks returns to the heart of the midfield after serving his three match suspension as Marcus Tavernier is pushed to left wing-back at the expense of Bola.

Dael Fry replaces Bamba in the heart of the Boro defence while Andraz Sporar starts up front alongside Duncan Watmore.

BORO XI: Daniels; Dijksteel, Fry, Peltier; Jones, Tavernier, Howson, McGree, Crooks; Watmore, Sporar
