UCHE Ikpeazu looks set to complete a deadline day move to Cardiff City with Middlesbrough sanctioning a loan move to Wales.

Cardiff held talks with Ikpeazu over a loan move earlier this month but the deal fell down because Boro held a firm stance on letting Ikpeazu leave on a permanent deal.

However, with hours left of the transfer window, Boro have allowed the 26-year-old to move on loan with Cardiff City looking to make last minute deals and Boro keen to offload the striker and balance the books. The deal looks set to be completed ahead of tonight's 11pm deadline with Ikpeazu holding talks with the Welsh outfit.

The Bluebirds are set to lose striker Keiffer Moore who is expected to complete a move to fellow Championship side Bournemouth which has reignited their interest in Ikpeazu.

The striker has been on Boro’s transfer list during the January transfer window after being told by Chris Wilder he is free to move before the end of the month.

In last week’s press conference, Wilder said: “There’s been interest from Cardiff. In fact, there’s been interest from a few Championship clubs.

“It’s for the best for the boy to go and play football, 100 per cent. He’s not involved with us, I’ve made it perfectly clear, so that decision now rests with the boy and his agent.”

The Ugandan striker joined Boro from Wycombe Wanderers in the summer but has gone on to score three goals in 22 appearances.
