FORMER Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Clayton has joined League One strugglers Doncaster Rovers on an 18-month contract.
The 33-year-old left Boro in the summer of 2020 but his career has stuttered since signing for Birmingham City.
He only went on to make 14 appearances for the Blues before having his contract mutually terminated earlier this season.
Clayton spent six seasons with Boro establishing himself as a prominent figure in the midfield alongside fellow Boro legend Grant Leadbitter.
The former Leeds and Huddersfield town man was part of the Boro side that reached the Championship play-off final in 2015 and the promotion winning side of 2016. In total, he featured 241 times on Teesside.
