North Two East leaders West Hartlepool lost their 100 per cent record when they went down 16- 5 at Aspatria.
West got off to a slack start, conceding a try in the opening minute when an Aspatria maul led to a converted try.
Both sides were reduced to 14 men, West losing Neil Howe for his role in a mass brawl.
Rob Thorn went over to give West hope, but some strong home defence kept the visitors pegged back.
