CONSETT boss Kenny Lindoe is confident that the Steelmen can clinch a last 16 place in the FA Vase when they replay against Poole Town this Saturday.

The Northern League side returned from Dorset with a 1-1 draw on Saturday, and Lindoe believes that they will complete the job at Belle Vue.

"We had several opportunities to win the game, but didn't take them which is unlike us,'' he said.

"We weren't at our best and we've still got to do it in the replay, but based on the chances we had on Saturday, we can go through.

"The unfortunate thing was, that we knew they were good at set-pieces, and we conceded an equaliser from one."

Consett had the better of the first half, and went close through David Pounder and Carl Piecha before Steven Brown blasted home a free-kick from the edge of the box to put the visitors into the lead just before half time.

But the Wessex League side levelled straight after the restart, when Mark Patterson could only turn an inswinging corner into his own net.

Mattie Moffat was denied twice late in normal time, and Steven Johnson deep into extra time.

Dunston and Whitley Bay are already through to this morning's draw.

Dunston steamrollered their way past Shrivenham with an 8- 0 win at Federation Park.

They never looked back after Jack Burns gave them an eighth minute lead from a free-kick. Fergal Harkin dribbled through for number two before Kevin Devine added two more - the second an overhead kick.

Michael Laws made it 5-0, Mark O'Bern pounced on a goalkeeping mistake for the sixth, then Devine completed his hat-trick from the spot. Lee Ludlow finished it off in the last minute.

Boss Perry Briggs said: "We weren't as good as we were in the week before against Bedlington, but the early goal gave us a boost, then the two by Kevin Devine finished them off. I hope the draw is kind now, and we avoid the other Northern League clubs."

Whitley Bay beat Northamptonshire side Long Buckby by a single goal at Hillheads.

Lee Kerr was the hero netting the winner on 77 minutes, when he dribbled past four players and chipped the keeper.

Whitley made life difficult for themselves in the first half, missing some good chances, and manager Ian Chandler said: "We weren't quite at our best.

"A lot of passes went astray, and we missed some good chances. But Lee produced a goal fit to win any game."
