FORMER Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is set to be named as Middlesbrough’s next manager next week.

The former Blades boss has been out of work since being sacked at the end of last season following their relegation from the Premier League.

Neil Warnock confirmed his departure from the club following their 1-1 draw against West Brom after Chairman Steve Gibson made the decision to part company with the 72-year-old earlier this morning.

Warnock confirmed that a new man is set to be announced on Tuesday and it’s understood to be Wilder who will take his place in the dugout.

The former Oxford United and Northampton manager has managed 934 games over the course of his career.

He took Sheffield United from League One to the Premier League in just under five years at Brammall Lane.
