SUNDERLAND won’t be playing on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day over the festive period with three games rearranged for the Black Cats.

Their original tie against Doncaster Rovers on Boxing Day has now been rearranged for the following day to a 12:30pm kick-off at the Keepmoat Stadium.

That means that the following scheduled games have also been pushed further ahead by a day.

Their home game against Sheffield Wednesday will now be played on Thursday 30th December for an evening kick-off of 7:45pm.

They’ll also have the day off on New Years Day and will host Fleetwood Town on Sunday 2nd January for a 1pm kick-off time.

The rescheduling of games will be down to Sunderland’s participation in the Carabao Cup. Lee Johnson’s side are due to travel to Premier League Arsenal on the week commencing Monday 20th  December.

The club have subsequently had their games rearranged and while the timescale in between games has reduced, they are still in for a busy schedule over the festive period.
