DURHAM duo Michael Jones and Liam Trevaskis have signed new two-year deals at Emirates Riverside.

Jones has penned his first professional contract, having initially joined Durham as an academy player in 2017.

The 23-year-old has made 11 first-class appearances, with his best score this season coming courtesy of an 81 against Glamorgan.

“I am buzzing to sign this deal with Durham,” said Jones. “It’s been a long time coming. I have been in the North East a while and settled down here and have got to know all the lads really well. I feel like I have settled into the team in red ball, it was an absolute no-brainer to sign and I am really happy to be here for the next few years.”

Trevaskis, a slow left-arm bowler, has become a vital part of Durham’s white-ball squad since making his debut four years ago, taking 55 wickets across all formats, with a career-best of 4-16 against Lancashire in the Vitality Blast.

“I’m excited to have signed a new contract with Durham and I am looking forward to what the next few years holds with this group of players,” said Trevaskis.

Durham director of cricket, Marcus North, added: “It is very pleasing that two of our young cricketers have agreed new deals with Durham for the next two years. I’m looking forward to seeing them continue to develop and progress under James Franklin and his coaching staff.”
