NATHAN WOOD’S season-long loan move from Middlesbrough to Hibernian is set to be confirmed later today.

Wood spent the weekend in Edinburgh, undergoing a medical and watching Hibs’ SPL win over Livingston from the stands at Easter Road.

The 19-year-old centre-half, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Crewe, has agreed the terms of his move north of the border, with Hibs boss Jack Ross hoping to be able to formally confirm the transfer at some point today.

Ross said: “He was here (over the weekend) – more to get a medical done than anything else. Hopefully, we can announce it soon.

“He gives us that defensive reinforcement. He is a really good young player with a big future ahead of him. He’ll hopefully join us for the season and strengthen the group.”

Boro confirmed the loan signing of Onel Hernandez yesterday, and Neil Warnock is still hoping to complete three more deals ahead of tomorrow night’s deadline.

One of those will be the loan capture of Sporting Lisbon’s Andraz Sporar, with the Slovenian striker already having passed a medical and agreed the terms of his move to Teesside.
