MARCUS Tavernier and Duncan Watmore look set to miss Middlesbrough's next two games according to manager Neil Warnock.

Both players were missing from the matchday squad for Boro's 2-1 win over Bristol City. Uche Ikpeazu and Matt Crooks took on the attacking burden but were up to the task as their goals handed them the win in front of a crowded Riverside Stadium.

However, if any of those players were to be injured, then it would leave Boro with a big hole to fill in their forward line.

Boro are still in the market for forwards and Warnock recently said he's in conversation with two attacking players about a possible deal to the club.

With those deals someway off being done, they could do with Tavernier and Watmore being available for their run of games but that won't be the case with Boro's next game against Queens Park Rangers this Wednesday at the Riverside.

“I won’t rush them back. I’m not sure they will be available for the next couple, if I’m honest" said Warnock.

“We’ve got a blank week after Derby, so hopefully they’ll be okay after then. I’m not expecting them to be back next two games.”

After the game, the Boro boss told the media what the nature of both their injuries are.

“It’s just little muscle strains really. Nothing serious.

“We thought Tav could get through it last week but he just felt it. The scans showed little strains and it’s just difficult.

“I thumped the doctor when he told me. It’s alright for him. It’s me that’s got to get a result. You don’t want to miss out on your best players really, but the door opens for someone else.”
