GLEN Durrant is on a path to redemption as he looks to recapture his form in the World Matchplay this afternoon.

The Middlesbrough dartsman takes on unseeded Callan Rydz at Winter Gardens.

Duzza is going through a real rough patch of form. Prior to victories in the Players Championship last week, the 50-year-old went on a 16 match losing streak.

While Duzza is trying to find away of getting back to his best, he admitted that he's very much kept to himself in the build up to the World Matchplay.

Durrant told the Northern Echo: “When you’re playing poorly, you hide yourself away. As much as my friends are like ‘Glen, you’ve got to come out and play in some local league tournaments’.

“I’ve sort of locked myself away trying to correct the wrongs.

“Devon Peterson has been the player that’s supported me the most. His form has been up and down but his positivity doesn’t half rub off on me and he sends me quotes and I won’t forget the help he’s given me. It is about being positive.

“You could ring me 2:30pm today and I could have had the best session I’ve had in eight or nine month so that’s how fickle darts is.

“One of the sayings of Devon is you’re only 501 points away from being back in form.

“I won some games last week. I’ve gone through 16 or 17 losses on the spin and as much as my game isn’t where I want it to be, there’s small steps in everything.

“I was learning how to win a game last week. I was leading 5-1 at one point and lost the game. I didn’t used to do that at my best because you start thinking about that winning line.

“Incredible amount of psychology in the game of darts. I think that’s been the biggest learning curve. The past 12 months where I’m learning how much of the game is really up above.

“Rest assured that I’m working hard. I’ve got great people around me, great sponsors and people willing me to do well so we live in hope.”

Krzysztof Ratajski takes on Brendan Dolan, Rob Cross faces Ross Smith and James Wade is up against Luke Humphries in the day's other first round ties.
