ENGLAND fans across the region have thrown pints into the air and jumped in celebration as Luke Shaw gives them the lead against Italy in the Euro 2020 final. 

Shaw scored within two minutes after latching onto Kieran Trippiers across with an brilliant half volley at Wembley. 

Fans in the region, including in fan parks ar Newcastle, celebrated with the nation but Gareth Southgate's side have a long time to hold onto their lead before achieving glory. 

England are looking to make history against Italy at Wembley this evening with the chance to win their first major tournament in 55 years. 

The Three Lions have never won a European Championship and have only ever been as far as the semi finals in 1996. 

Gareth Southgate has the chance of bringing home silverware when he leads the team out at Wembley.

Over 60,000 fans are expected to be in attendance for tonight's game at Wembley.
