HARTLEPOOL UNITED may be embroiled in one of the most important seasons in their recent history as they prepare for their National League play-off campaign.

Pools end the season with an home tie against Weymouth where there will be approximately 1,700 supporters at Victoria Park for the first time in over a year.

They're aiming for a top three finish in the National League which would ensure an automatic spot in the semi finals. Pools need to beat Weymouth and hope that 3rd placed Stockport County drop points away to Yeovil Town on the final day.

As Dave Challinor's side remain fully focused on the task at hand, the remaining sides in the National League will begin preparations for next season with dates to look forward to.

The 2021/22 National League season will kick off on Saturday 21st August.

The 5th tier of English Football is due to end on Saturday 21st May 2022 with a play-off campaign that runs right the way through until Sunday 5th June 2022.

With the National League play-offs continuing right the way through until June, it makes sense to give players an extended break.

Darlington and Spennymoor Town will kick off their National League North seasons on Saturday 14th August where there campaigns will be played through until Saturday 7th May.

The Quakers have been undergoing an early pre season rebuild with five new signings through the doors at Blackwell Meadows while Moors have announced a managerial restructure with Tommy Miller at the helm next season.

Darlington manager Alun Armstrong is also in discussion with Erico Sousa after the winger was offered a fresh contract at the club amid interest from elsewhere.
