NEW MARSKE became the first side to reach 50 goals when they hit Silksworth Community for seven on Saturday.

There was no stopping the Seasiders who have now rifled 55 goals and conceded just nine in 16 games.

Sean Mackin gave them a perfect start before Silksworth's Martin Armstrong netted an own goal on 23 minutes.

The Seasiders re-grouped and it was not until midway through the second period that Mackin made it three with his second of the afternoon.

Substitute Alex Anderson and Philip Peggs made it five and Mackin completed his hattrick before Sam Garvie added to the woes of the Wearsiders.

Hartlepool remain fifth top but could not prevent Whitehaven from maintaining their challenge to New Marske.

The home side had a couple of efforts cleared off the Whitehaven line before the Cumbrians went ahead following a 50th-minute penalty.

Goalkeeper Peter Jeffries made an excellent save from Craig Lewis's spot kick but the ball rebounded kindly to Darren Donnelly and netted.

Five minutes later Donnelly increased his side's lead and there was only a minute remaining as Pools Shaun Ross converted a penalty.

Two first half goals proved decisive when Jarrow won at Easington Colliery. Andrew Barclay was first to score and just before the interval Paul Clegg was also on target.

East Durham United remain bottom after losing 4-0 to thirdtop Ryhope CW for whom Mark Davison, with a brace, Stephen Bagley and Peter Benson were the marksmen.

Ashbrooke Belford House, playing for the first time in the League, are mid-table following victory at Harton and Westoe where they went ahead after just 30 seconds with a shot from Mark Green.

Nicholas Crane headed in the equaliser and with chances at both ends, the result could have gone one of three ways but it was Ashbrooke who won with late strikes from Martin Deacon and David Scott.

A hat-trick from Neil Charlton was the feature of a welcome victory for Coxhoe Athletic at the expense of Guisborough Black Swan.

The home side, second from the basement, were trailing 3-1 before Charlton came up trumps and pulled the game out of the fire. Philip Reay was their other scorer with Christopher Lunn (2) and Michael McGowan finding the net for Black Swan.
