How did the players fare in Middlesbrough's 1-1 draw at Watford?
MIDDLESBROUGH (4-2-3-1):
6 Bettinelli: Didn’t have a lot to do for the majority of the afternoon – had no chance with Sarr’s deflection that opened the scoring
7 Fisher: Kept Sema quiet for most of the afternoon and tucked inside to provide extra protection when it was needed
6 Hall: Tracked Pedro’s movement for the majority of the game and made a couple of important clearances from inside his own box
7 McNAIR: Defended stoutly as part of the back four and delivered a superb free-kick to enable Bolasie to equalise
6 Bola: Was solid in defence and tried to get forward down the left-hand side when the opportunity allowed
6 Howson: Covered a lot of ground in midfield and mopped up in front of the defence to protect the back four
5 Morsy: Sat in a deep-lying position for the opening half-hour, but was injured by a foul from Chalobah and went off before half-time
5 Spence: Wasn’t able to influence the game as much as he would have liked – needed to get himself into the 18-yard box
7 Saville: Started in an attacking-midfield role, although looked much more effective in the second half when he dropped further back
5 Kebano: Never really looked like causing a threat in the final third as he struggled to exert an influence from his position on the left
6 Watmore: Ran himself into the ground - but isn’t particularly well suited to playing as a central striker as he is constantly looking to drift out wide
Subs:
5 Coulson (for Morsy, 30): Was thrown on in the ‘number ten’ role, even though he is surely more effective playing on the left
Akpom (for Watmore, 73)
Bolasie (for Kebano, 73)
(not used): Archer (gk), Johnson, Mendez-Laing, Fletcher, Coburn.
WATFORD (4-3-3):
Bachmann 6; Femenia 6, Troost-Ekong 6, Sierralta 6, Masina 6; Hughes 5, Chalobah 6, ZINCKERNAGEL 7 (Gosling 76); Sarr 7, Pedro 6, Sema 6 (Success 83).
Subs (not used): Foster (gk), Ngakia, Lazaar, Cathcart, Kabasele, Sanchez, Gray.
Man Of The Match: PADDY McNAIR – Defended well throughout and produced the best ball of the game as he crossed for Bolasie to equalise.
