NEIL WARNOCK has jokingly suggested he will make Stoke City's players get changed in a camper van ahead of tomorrow's meeting with Middlesbrough at the Riverside.

Back in December, the Boro boss was incensed by the state of the away dressing-room facilities at Stoke's bet365 Stadium.

Stoke had closed their away dressing room because of Covid protocols, meaning Boro's players had to prepare in a portacabin.

"I wouldn’t have put animals in it," said Warnock at the time. "The toilets were blocked up, we’ve got fumes coming in from a bloody engine outside the dressing room.

"Water everywhere on the floor, it’s a disgrace for the Championship, absolute disgrace. Those changing rooms were a pigsty. In fact, pigs would have seen it and run away."

Tomorrow's game is the first meeting between the two teams since, and Warnock has jokingly suggested he will be exacting his revenge.

"I have driven my camper van round the corner for the manager and staff," said Warnock, at his pre-match press conference earlier today. "I hope they enjoy it in the car park.

"I think Jose (Mourinho) was quite pleased I complained. Apparently it was excellent when they (Tottenham) went (in the FA Cup".

"Quite rightly so. Enough has been said. The way Stoke reacted was very good. It should have happened before but at least they reacted and changed."

While Warnock's camper van comment might have been tongue in cheek, the Boro boss feels there is an important point to be made when it comes to ensuring there is a level playing field across the Championship in terms of the facilities made available to opposition teams.

"I have asked numerous times why we give such great facilities to away teams," he said. "When we go to places like QPR, no disrespect, we're at the other side of the ground behind the terraces, having to walk with flip flops in the open air to get a shower.

"For me, at this level you'd think the EFL would inspect away dressing rooms. It's not difficult to do. If the EFL gave the okay, we wouldn't have a problem."
