How did the players fare in Newcastle's 1-1 draw with Wolves?
NEWCASTLE (4-3-3):
7 Dubravka: Should have done better with Neves’ goal, but redeemed himself with a sensational stoppage-time save from Silva
4 Krafth: Struggled against Traore’s pace all night and was eventually withdrawn with just under 20 minutes left
7 Lascelles: Dominated at the heart of Newcastle’s back four for most of the night and scored with an excellent header
7 Clark: Ensured Jose was not able to offer a threat during his time on the field, and won some important headers
4 Lewis: Continues to struggle defensively and stood off Neto as the Wolves forward crossed for Neves’ goal
5 Hayden: Was faring reasonably well in midfield, but wasn’t able to keep track of Neves after he was switched to right-back
6 Shelvey: Played a wonderful ball to release Almiron in the early stages and provided a few more useful passes
6 Willock: Displayed plenty of energy at the heart of midfield, but should really have scored when Patricio saved his first-half shot
6 Joelinton: Put in a shift on the right of Newcastle’s attack, but wasted a great opportunity when his late shot struck Saiss
6 Almiron: Hit the post as he troubled the Wolves defence throughout the first half, but was forced off with an injury at the interval
7 SAINT-MAXIMIN: Troubled the Wolves defence whenever he embarked on a dribble – Newcastle will be hoping his injury is not too serious
Subs:
7 Fraser (for Almiron, 46): Provided some drive and energy in the final third and delivered the cross for Lascelles’ goal
6 Murphy (for Saint-Maximin, 63): Made a couple of dangerous late dribbles and set up Joelinton’s great late chance
Ritchie (for Krafth, 71)
(not used): Darlow (gk), Dummett, S Longstaff, Hendrick, Carroll, Gayle.
WOLVES (3-4-2-1):
Patricio 6; Dendoncker 6, Coady 6, Saiss 7; Semedo 6, NEVES 8, Moutinho 6, Jonny 5; Neto 7, Traore 6; Jose 5 (Silva 83).
Subs (not used): Ruddy (gk), However, Ait-Nouri, Gibbs-White, Vitinha, Kilman, Otasowie.
Man Of The Match: RUBEN NEVES – Wolves’ goalscorer was the key figure as the visitors dragged themselves back into the game.
