SUNDERLAND are set to receive a seven-figure transfer windfall in the summer - thanks to Fulham's deadline-day move for their former striker, Josh Maja.
Fulham are signing Maja on a season-long loan from his current employers, Bordeaux.
However, the Cottagers are also pushing for the inclusion of a clause in the deal that will enable them to complete a permanent deal for Maja in the summer.
Maja is valued at around £10m, and Fulham's clause is expected to be around that figure.
Sunderland sold Maja to Bordeaux in January 2019 and, crucially, inserted a sell-on clause into the deal that took the forward to Ligue 1.
The Black Cats are understood to be guaranteed ten per cent of any future transfer fee for Maja - money that will come in extremely useful if Fulham complete the permanent signing of the forward in the summer.
Sunderland's own deadline-day dealing continues to revolve around Will Grigg, with MK Dons now strong favourites to sign the Northern Irishman.
Shrewsbury Town and Oxford United have both admitted defeat in their own attempts to sign Grigg - leaving the path open for MK Dons to complete a deal in the next few hours.
