SEAN LONGSTAFF has been ruled out of Newcastle’s weekend game with West Ham United – and Joelinton and Jamaal Lascelles are also doubts for Sunday’s match at St James’ Park.
Longstaff damaged his hamstrings in Wedneday’s 4-1 win at Bournemouth, and the midfielder continues to receive treatment that will keep him on the sidelines.
Joelinton is struggling with a calf problem, while Lascelles suffered a knock to his ankle at the Vitality Stadium, but Bruce is hoping the pair will both improve over the next 48 hours.
The Newcastle boss said: “Changes will be inevitable I would think.
“I don’t think Sean Longstaff will make it, and we’re waiting on Joelinton. Jamaal Lascelles has a nasty knock to his ankle to so we’ll see how he is.
“We’ve achieved our first goal this season. A lot of people wrote the team and myself off in the first few weeks. I’m delighted for everybody we’re a Premier League team again and that was the first job to be done.
“Now, we’ve given ourselves the platform to see if we can mount a challenge and get in the top ten. If we can, that would be hugely satisfying.”
