Spennymoor Town are looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches when they go to fellow play-off contenders Altrincham on Saturday.

It will be a very entertaining affair if the fixture last month at the Brewery Field is anything to go by, when a ding-dong tussle in a storm saw Moors come out on top 3-2, and Rob Ramshaw scoring the winner.

Moors go into the game on the back of another thriller -- the 3-3 draw with Telford after being 3-1 down at one stage with ten men -- in seventh place in the table, two points behind their opponents. Coincidentally, they have both scored the same number of goals, 58.

Manager Jason Ainsley said; “It’s a very tough game against a team that likes to play expansive football, and in my opinion will be in the play offs.

“We just need to keep our good form going – we have done very well in recent weeks, especially in our last game against Telford.”

Defender James Curtis is missing because of suspension for his dismissal last Saturday, while top scorer Glen Taylor is doubtful with an ankle injury and winger Ben McKenna is almost certainly out with a thig strain Altrincham had a slow start to the season, but they have steadily improved since November. They have lost only once at home this season on the opening day.

This is the start of another big month for Moors. After today, they will be at home to Hereford on the 14th and Guiseley on the 28th, and away to Blyth on the 21st and Southport on the 24th.

Moors have been boosted by the news that Hartlepool are happy to extend the loan of midfielder Jason Kennedy for the rest of the season.

Moors’ Durham Challenge Cup final against Sunderland Under 23s has been arranged for Tuesday 31st March, kick off 7.30.

In the BetVictor North West League, Marske United are at Ossett United, and hoping to build on their 4-0 midweek win over Kendal. Manager Carl Jarrett said; “We’ve got four clean sheets on the bounce – I want a fifth on Saturday.” Marske are currently fifth in the table, with a four point gap between them and Tadcaster.

In the same division, Dunston are at Clitheroe.

In the Premier Division, leaders South Shields are at Bamber Bridge.

Whitby, who are on the fringe of the play offs, are at Stafford Rangers, while Morpeth are at home to Witton Albion.
