How did the players fare in Newcastle United's 1-1 draw at Wolves?
WOLVES (3-4-3):
Patricio 6; DENDONCKER 8, Coady 7, Saiss 6; Doherty 7, Moutinho 7, Neves 6, Jonny 6; Traore 7, Jimenez 6, Neto 6 (Vinagre 85).
Subs (not used): Ruddy (gk), Bennett, Gibbs-White, Kilman, Ashley-Seal, Buur.
NEWCASTLE (3-4-3):
8 DUBRAVKA: Made two superb saves to earn Newcastle a point – the first, from Jimenez’s close-range header, was exceptional
7 Clark: Made some important interventions and was the most solid member of the Magpies’ back three
6 Fernandez: Fared reasonably well against Jimenez for the most part, but lost Dendoncker for Wolves’ goal
5 Dummett: Only lasted 12 minutes before a hamstring problem forced him to dejectedly limp from the field
7 Hayden: A man of many positions, Newcastle’s Mr Versatile slotted in effectively at right wing-back – likely to stay there tomorrow
8 S Longstaff: An improved display from the youngster, who is gradually rediscovering the form he was displaying in the second of last season
7 M Longstaff: Complemented his brother perfectly at the heart of midfield, running himself into the ground in the second half
7 Willems: Has to be marked up given that he was trying to shackle the mercurial Traore – stuck to his task impressively
6 Joelinton: Still didn’t look like scoring, but deserves credit for giving it a go in the second half despite his groin issues
6 Gayle: Looked good for almost half-an-hour, setting up Almiron’s goal, but can’t seem to get on top of his injury problems
8 Almiron: Was sensational in the first half, claiming his third goal in six games, and was his side’s brightest outfield presence throughout
Subs:
7 Lejeune (for Dummett, 12): Was thrust into the action from an early stage and helped his side grind out a valuable point
5 Atsu (for Gayle, 28): Played in a wide attacking role but wasn’t able to make much of an impact in his hour on the field
Carroll (for Joelinton, 79)
(not used): Darlow (gk), Watts, Allan, Ritchie.
Man Of The Match: MARTIN DUBRAVKA – Wolves didn’t create a host of chances, but when they did threaten, they were repelled by a superb goalkeeping display.
