IN-FORM David Nalbandian claimed his second Masters Series title in a fortnight when he destroyed Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the final of the Paris tournament.
The Argentinian, ranked 18th in the world, was in rampant mood as he swept past the Spaniard 6-4 6-0 in 69 minutes.
Nalbandian thrashed the world No 2 6-1 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the Madrid Masters on his way to the title there two weeks ago, and this performance was just as impressive.
It is the seventh title of his career, although it comes too late to qualify him directly for the Masters Cup in Shanghai, which begins next Monday.
Nalbandian, who finished ninth in the ATP Race, said he would decide this morning whether to go on standby for the season-ending showpiece.
I played great all tournament, not just today,'' he said.
Nadal did not blame the defeat on his knee, which was heavily strapped throughout the match.
The French Open champion said: I wasn't playing my best, and David played unbelievably.
He is playing at 100 per cent."
