HARTLEPOOL UNITED (3-5-2)

7 Killip: Distribution is long and powerful, but was a bit awry on occasions. Looks to get the ball away to set Pools on the attack. Confidence is evident now;

7 Kerr: More comfortable and assured in a three – even in possession he looks happier now with cover around him

6 Raynes: The experienced head teams need at the back, organises, cajoles, demands a lot of his team-mates

7 Cunningham: Again just looks to defend and defend firmly, gets stuck in, listens to and learns from Raynes;

6 Kioso: Energetic, up and down the flank, but the manager wasn’t happy with the amount of crosses in from his flank

7 Kennedy: It’s clear now he needed a few games to get up to speed after injury problems of last season and is a key component of the midfield three

6 Mafuta: No nonsense as ever, wins the ball, moves it on, adds cover and a presence in the middle which Pools haven’t had for a long time

7 Noble: Like Kennedy, his first couple of games weren’t right, but he was always looking for the ball and looking to move it on, making key passes in key areas

7 Kitching: A new player this season compared to last. Playing with more authority up and down the left flank and it won’t be long before he scores a deserved goal;

6 Donaldson: Dropped into a deeper role playing off Toure in the second-half, had a good chance to make it two which would have killed the game off

8 TOURE: Unplayable at times – too strong, too quick for the opposition. Should have scored three in truth such was his ability to get away.
