SUNDERLAND have announced the departure of centre-half Glenn Loovens.
The defender has left the club by mutual consent, having failed to make a single senior appearance so far this season.
Loovens joined the Black Cats on a two-year contract last summer, and made 13 senior outings last term.
However, his final appearance came when he was sent off in December’s 3-1 defeat at Portsmouth, and his attempts to force his way back into the picture this summer were hampered by an injury issue.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Glenn because throughout my time knowing him at this club, he has been a brilliant professional,” said Sunderland manager Jack Ross.
“He’s always looked after himself and been an excellent role model around the club. On behalf of everyone at Sunderland, I would like to wish Glenn all the best for the future.”
