SUNDERLAND (4-2-3-1):
6 McLaughlin: Wasn’t really posed too many serious questions until the second half when Posh finally made an attack count;
6 O’Nien: Wasn’t able to get forward as much as he would like because of the attacking ambition of Dembele, but teed up the opener
6 Ozturk: Did what he needed to do and got away with one first half collision when he Godden ran into him on the edge of the area
6 Dunne: Defended well and was left stunned by Chapman’s excellence when his header was prevented from giving Sunderland the lead
6 Oviedo: An early caution for a silly lunge on Maddison restricted what he could do but still did enough;
8 Power: Saw plenty of the ball, made some telling passes and had an effort or two on goal to score
7 Cattermole: Played some excellent passes and never looked ruffled on an afternoon when he tried to get Sunderland going
6 Morgan: Had a couple of decent runs but didn’t do enough when he was in dangerous areas to contribute
5 Honeyman: Had an early effort that was blocked but unable to have the impact a No 10 would like behind the striker
7 McGeady: Had one effort that had to be saved and lit up the game at times with his skills, without looking like scoring really;
6 Wyke: Led the line well enough but will rue missing a fantastic opportunity in the first half when Cattermole played him in.
Subs
Grigg (for Honeyman 65): Unable to test the keeper and threaten like he can. 5
Gooch (for Morgan 73)
Maguire (for McGeady 78)
(not used): Ruiter (gk), Flanagan, Hume, Leadbitter.
MAN OF THE MATCH: MAX POwer - took his goal in style and looked the part throughout the afternoon in the middle.
