How did the players perform in Sunderland's 1-1 draw at Wycombe?
WYCOMBE (4-1-4-1):
Allsop 4; McCarthy 5, Jacobson 6, Stewart 6, Jombati 5; Gape 6; Bolton 4 (Cowan-Hall 28, 7), BLOOMFIELD 8 (Thompson 90), Bean 5, Tyson 7 (Harriman 83); Samuel 8.
Subs (not used): Ma-Kalambay (gk), Kashket, Owens, Akinfenwa.
SUNDERLAND (4-2-3-1):
6 McLaughlin: Had some shaky moments dealing with balls into the box, but made a crucial second-half save from Bloomfield
6 O’Nien: Was on the receiving end of some rough treatment on his return to Adams Park, but kept on plugging away
5 Flanagan: Suffered an uncomfortable afternoon against the lively Samuel, and went off in stoppage time after suffering a head injury
5 Dunne: Didn’t look comfortable at the heart of the back four, but came close with a late header from a corner
5 James: Returned to the side in place of Matthews, but struggled in the first half and didn’t reappear after half-time
6 LEADBITTER: Didn’t hit the heights he has scaled in recent games, but was still the most composed Sunderland player on the pitch
5 Cattermole: Not one of his better games as he seemed to get caught between pushing on and dropping back
5 Morgan: Was bullied out of the game for long periods, with Wycombe’s midfielders shutting him down as soon as he received possession
4 Honeyman: Couldn’t get going during his time on the field, and became embroiled in an unnecessary spat that will rule him out of Wembley
6 McGeady: Produced one outstanding moment of magic on the left, but wasn’t as influential as he has been in recent weeks
5 Grigg: This wasn’t his type of game at all – his lack of physical presence meant Sunderland were unable to relieve the pressure on their defence
Subs:
6 Matthews (for James, 46): Improved things slightly in the second half, and might well start against Barnsley tomorrow
6 Watmore (for Honeyman, 60): Salvaged a point as he dodged some flying legs to slot home Sunderland’s equaliser
5 Gooch (for Morgan, 68): Wasn’t really able to influence things in the final quarter of the game
(not used): Ruiter (gk), Baldwin, McGeouch, Power.
Man Of The Match: MATT BLOOMFIELD – The Wycombe midfielder was making his 500th appearance for the club – and there won’t have been too many better performances than this. Outperformed his illustrious rivals in red-and-white.
