ANTONIO BARRECA will go straight into Newcastle United’s squad for tomorrow’s lunch-time kick-off at Tottenham.
However, record signing Miguel Almiron will not feature at Wembley as he continues to wait for his work permit following his £20.7m move from Atlanta United.
Barreca, who signed on a season-long loan from Monaco on Thursday, took part in his first full training session this morning, and while he is unlikely to start at tomorrow, he is set to be named on the substitutes’ bench against Spurs.
With Mo Diame still unavailable despite having returned to light training, Rafael Benitez is set to name an unchanged starting line-up as he looks to guide his side to a second victory over top-six opposition in the space of five days.
Benitez said: “Barreca is in the squad, so if he has to play tomorrow, he can play. Miguel will have a chance to be in the squad against Wolves.
“Diame has been training but he is not ready for the game. (Paul) Dummett, Ki (Sung-yueng), (Rob) Elliot and (Jonjo) Shelvey are very close. I am quite positive because they are very close now, and hopefully they will be available against Wolves.”
