HARROGATE TOWN 1 CHESTERFIELD 1

HARROGATE TOWN scored in the seventh minute of stoppage time to snatch a dramatic point in a 1-1 home draw with Chesterfield.

Aaron Williams’ 97th-minute strike kept Town in fourth position in the National League table, four points adrift of leaders Wrexham.

Harrogate fell behind shortly before the hour mark when Jonathan Smith tapped home from close range following a cross from substitute Jerome Binnom-Williams.

Chesterfield almost doubled their lead with full-time approaching, but Binnom-Williams’ shot was deflected narrowly wide of the target.

Liam Kitching and Mark Beck both had headers saved as Harrogate pushed for an equaliser, and the hosts’ fate looked to be sealed when the game headed into stoppage time.

However, a corner caused havoc in the Chesterfield box, and Williams swopped to score from close range and earn his side a draw.

Harrogate: Belshaw, Fallowfield, Burrell, Emmett, Kitching, Howe, Falkingham, Thomson (Kerry 79), Leesley, Muldoon (Williams 58), Beck.
