SAVANNAH MARSHALL will attempt to extend her unbeaten professional record when she takes on Argentinian Yanina Orozco in a ten-round Intercontinental Championship bout in Bulgaria a week on Saturday.

Marshall, who currently sits in seventh position in the women’s super-middleweight world standings, will fight on the undercard of the ‘Fire and Fury’ bill at Sofia’s Arena Armeec.

The Hartlepool Olympian boasts a perfect 3-0 record since turning professional, but will be taking on an opponent who has also avoided defeat in the paid ranks.

Orozco is three places below Marshall in the rankings, and the 27-year-old North-Easterner accepts she cannot afford to slip up as she looks to close in on a World-title fight.

“This is a great match-up for me, and for the travelling fans,” said Marshall, who is a former World champion in the amateur ranks. “Like me, my opponent is unbeaten, so I’m excited to get out there, give it all I’ve got, and get the win. There’s a lot at stake.

“I’ve been in camp now for 14 weeks, which has felt like a long time. But I’m looking forward to finally getting in the ring and showing what I’ve learnt in that time. All the training will be worth it.”

Marshall has been preparing for next weekend’s fight at the Team Fury gym in Bolton, training alongside event headliner Hughie Fury under the watchful eye of the heavyweight’s father, Peter.

“Peter has so much knowledge, and I enjoy the way he approaches training us,” said Marshall. “The way we train is all about learning, progressing and constantly moving forward, which has filled me with confidence going into this fight.”

Hughie Fury tops next weekend’s bill as he takes on Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev, who is currently second in the IBF’s heavyweight rankings, for the right to become the mandatory challenger for Anthony Joshua’s IBF World Heavyweight title.
