The unbeaten Too Darn Hot is 6/4 with BetVictor for Guineas glory (from 7/2) after a sensational performance in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.

I was also impressed with the win of the French raider Persian King (14s for the clots’ classic with BetVictor) in the Autumn Stakes. It might be worth noting that his winning time was furlong-per-furlong the same as the John Gosden-trained Guineas favourite.

Our two selections in the Cesarewitch finished first (Low Sun 10/1) and third (Cleonte 25/1) but the race was a triumph for Irish handler Willie Mullins who saddled the first two home with Urudel finishing runner up to Low Sun.

The ground is likely to be soft for this afternoon’s card at Windsor and I hope to see a bold show from Zartorius (1.40) back against his own age group having stayed on well at Haydock last time when third from a 1lb higher mark. The Pinto Kid looks the obvious danger for James Fanshawe.

I would expect the field to head for the far rail in the home straight this afternoon. Lady Dancealot (3.10) has been running consistently well all season and finally got her head in front at Goodwood last time from a 2lbs lower mark under Gerald Mosse.

David Probert takes over in the saddle this afternoon, the ground is no concern and the suggestion is that stall six will be a positive. The filly’s two wins have come at Goodwood which might be significant but the Elsworth runner gets the each way vote. A market move for the lightly-raced Great Midge would be worth noting.

Island Of Life (6.15) wears cheek-pieces for the first time in the valuable 5f sprint in the hope that she can break on terms as she can lose her race at the start. If the headgear works the oracle, she is well drawn in stall three and Tom Queally takes over in the saddle for William Haggas.

Jim Crowley is riding at Yarmouth this afternoon before coming on to Kempton to ride Jahbath (7.45) and I would be disappointed if he doesn’t go one better than when second at Salisbury on debut. The selection went off a well-backed market leader and this step up to a mile should suit. He is taken to see off the challenge of Surrey Warrior.

Oisin Murphy takes over on the beautifully bred Lilypad (9.15) on her handicap debut for James Fanshawe and she may have been let in lightly for her handicap debut despite being outclassed by a couple of potentially smart types at Leicester last time.

There is also rain forecast at Yarmouth and if the ground goes soft I feel Our Cilla has “gorra” lot going for her in the 12f handicap. That said she is, arguably, better over an extra couple of furlongs and the each way vote goes to Tilsworth Lukey (3.30) who acts on the ground and has been knocking on the door of late.

Gerald Mosse takes over on Jack Nevison (5.05) for the first time and the gelding - who has only won one of his 22 starts – has been running consistently well in defeat of late and certainly deserves to get his head back in front.
