YORK CITY enjoyed a comfortable afternoon as they thrashed North West Counties League side Ashton Athletic 5-0 in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.
The Minstermen claimed a second-minute lead from their first attack, with David Ferguson converting Jordan Burrow’s cross.
Burrow claimed his first York goal on the 15-minute mark, tapping home after Simon Heslop’s shot was saved, and the visitors added a third shortly before half-time as Joe Tait headed home from a corner.
There was still time before the break for a fourth goal to arrive – Alex Harris following up after Burrow hit the post – and the rout was completed when substitute Wes York converted a cross.
York: Bartlett, Law, Tait (Parslow 61), Newton, Griffiths, Heslop (Penn 46), Moke, Harris, Ferguson, Burrow, Langstaff (York 46).
