SUNDERLAND (4-1-4-1):
3 Ruiter: Made an important second half save but his two errors for the free-kicks were unforgivable;
6 Matthews: Defended well and looked to attack which earned him his first Sunderland goal
5 Wilson: Had his moments but gave the ball away cheaply a few times even if he blocked a few things
6 O’Shea: The experienced man in the middle and made some telling blocks when he needed to
7 Oviedo: Looked dangerous and bright in possession down the line;
6 Cattermole: Still has his critics but the play still tends to go through him;
5 Watmore: Lively enough and had a penalty shout before another injury blow
5 Williams: Had looked hungry to get on the ball until he took a heavy blow to the face
5 McNair: Failed to get involved in things like he would like but that could come with more minutes
6 McGeady: Plenty of tricks and turns but could do with testing the keeper more;
7 GRABBAN: His ninth goal of the season and imagine a Sunderland without those this season
Subs:
Honeyman (for Williams 17): Moved the ball around brightly without being really clinical. 5
McManaman (for Watmore 42): Threatened the defenders at times without testing the keeper. 5
Browning (for Wilson 83)
(not used): Steele (gk), Rodwell, Vaughan, Gibson.
MILLWALL (4-4-2): Archer 3; McLaughlin 5 (Thompson 90), Hutchinson 5, Cooper 5, Meredith 6; O’Brien 5, SAVILLE 7, Tunnicliffe 6, Ferguson 6; Elliott 5 (Morison 71), Gregory 6 (Onyedinma 73). Subs (not used): King (gk), Craig, Romeo, Twardek.
MAN OF THE MATCH: LEWIS Grabban – his goals should at least fill Chris Coleman with some hope.
