Marine 1 Spennymoor Town 1.

Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley says he might consider fielding more physical players in his teams for away games after a late goal earned them a 1-1 draw at Marine on Saturday.

Moors were outmuscled at times in the first half, but they dug out an equaliser for a point that keeps them nicely in the promotion race.

“We were outfought a little in the first half, we weren’t really at the races. Marine scored early on, and that gave us a mountain to climb because they had plenty of energy and they were more physical than us.

“Maybe we should be thinking of playing more physical players away from home, because we didn’t do enough in the first half.

“But I was pleased that we kept going and gained a point. But it will only be a good point of we win next week against Coalville.”

Marine scored after xx minutes with a low shot by Dan Foley, and all Moors offered was an attempt by Nathan Fisher that went just past the post.

Andrew Johnson went close at the start of the second half as Moors improved, and they almost levelled when James Curtis was denied by a great save from the Marine keeper, and then the defender had another cleared off the line.

But Moors’ persistence paid off in stoppage time when Joe Tait’s shot was blocked, but Graeme Armstrong pounced and scored.
