MIDDLESBROUGH manager Gareth Southgate is close to securing his second signing of the summer after Fenerbahce striker Tuncay Sanli agreed personal terms with the Teessiders.
Subject to a medical next week, the 25-year-old, who is a free agent, will join Boro.
Sanli will become Southgate's second signing since the end of the season after completing the £7m transfer of Jonathan Woodgate from Real Madrid.
"Tuncay will travel to Teesside next week to take a medical," said chief executive Keith Lamb, who has been in Istanbul discussing terms with the forward. "He has agreed personal terms and the deal is a free transfer as the player is out of contract."
The arrival of Sanli will cushion the blow left by Mark Viduka's decision to join Tyne-Tees rivals Newcastle United last week.
